Breaking! The House GOP “plan” to replace the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) has just leaked. My staff and I are going through it now, but my initial impression is that it’s as bad as we thought. 

The Republican plan would:

• Strip away subsidies that allow millions of Americans, even those with health coverage through their employer, to access care;
• Sabotage the Medicaid expansion that has allowed Oregon to expand coverage to over 400,000 Oregonians and innovate health care coverage to keep Oregon healthy and save costs; and
• Take us back to the days where insurers could discriminate based on pre-existing conditions and age--requiring seniors to pay up to five times more for coverage that provides less.

This is not a credible plan. It appears that it rolls back coverage, fails to protect people with preexisting conditions, and subjects seniors, women, and children to an uncertain future. The bottom line under their plan? If you like the coverage you have now, you won't be able to keep it.
