Public lands are a precious part of Oregon’s natural heritage. Wilderness, national recreation areas, wild and scenic rivers, and other federal public lands across the state preserve natural treasures and protect some of the values we hold most dear: wildlife; clean air and water; and opportunities for outdoor recreation. These are some of our greatest gifts to future generations.
Thanks to the hard work of many individuals including Senator Ron Wyden, last month, Congress passed long-overdue legislation protecting public lands and natural resources across the United States, including about 130,000 acres and more than 280 miles of rivers in Oregon.
Senator Wyden and I want to start the conversation now about where we go from here. We want to hear from you about what public lands mean to you. Why do you care about protecting them, and what are the places on federal lands in Oregon that are most special to you?
