Drug prices have risen at an alarming rate, and we need to protect the affordability of necessary medications. New drugs for cancer and rare diseases can cost more than $100,000 a year. Even generic medicines for chronic conditions, such as insulin, have seen prices triple or more between 2002-2013.
We can and must do more. We should be providing better, more affordable care for all people, which includes access to affordable medicine. The days of choosing between health and financial security must end.
I hope you will join me for a public forum to discuss prescription drug pricing and affordability.
